Leonard “Len” L. Fleisig has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Maritime Practice Group, and practices in our Norfolk office. He was previously with Troutman Sanders in Washington D.C.
Len has over 20 years of experience as an admiralty attorney, much of it focused on shipping transactions, cargo claims and maritime litigation work. In addition, Len routinely counsels U.S. and foreign shippers on regulatory, transactional and litigation matters. He represents companies in enforcement proceedings before U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Office of Foreign Assets Regulations, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the Department of Commerce, the Federal Maritime Commission, and in courts throughout the United States.
Len successfully represented a European corporation faced with a multi-million dollar enforcement proceeding by CBP. He also recently obtained a favorable judgment, and million dollar refund from CBP, for a corporation arising out of user fee charges claimed by CBP in a proceeding before the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Prior to entering private law practice, Leonard spent twelve years in the logistics industry overseeing the movement of hundreds of containers per week between the United States and Europe, Africa, and Asia.
He received his J.D. from New York University in 1990, and a B.A. from The University of Manchester in 1975.
